This activity, organized by the Inter-American Development Bank, took place on December 5 and 6 in the capital of El Salvador, with the participation of representatives from various countries in the region, to present and learn about different collaboration models. For example, Chile presented the model developed by Itrend, together with the experience of Senapred from the public sector, represented by the regional director of Atacama, Roberto Muñoz.
This was followed by a round table discussion with the participation of Macarena Pérez, from Itrend; Gustavo Villarosa, researcher at the Andean-Patagonian Institute of Biological and Geoenvironmental Technologies, National Council of Scientific and Technical Research of the National University of Comahue, Argentina; and Iñigo Aniel-Quiroga, senior researcher at the Institute of Environmental Hydraulics of Cantabria and expert in coastal risks, moderated by Ginés Suárez, senior risk management specialist at the IDB. In this instance, there was a dialogue on how to encourage alliances, exchange and socialization of information.
During the afternoon, research experiences on various hazards carried out in Spain, Argentina, Mexico and Chile were presented: the latter was an investigation on seismic risk, presented by Sergio Barrientos, director of the National Seismological Center (CSN). The presentations were followed by group work on how to promote alliances between the public sector, the private sector and academia for the identification of disaster risk and Climate Change.
